Mariela was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela and later moved to New York. With a degree in Fashion Design from Parson's School of Design, she began her professional development with Badgley Mischka, followed by Mayela (Venezuela) and Pamela Dennis. She finally decided to take a risk and produce her own evening wear line that was quickly picked up by Henri Bendel's. However, it was at the urging of her friends that Mariela started designing couture wedding gowns to fill the void they found in the market for original and unique bridal design. The Soucy for Lara Hélène gowns are sophisticated and elegant.
