A Wedding Program commemorates the people involved in the Wedding, and provides a nice memento of the Wedding. The use of Wedding Programs is common, but not mandatory. If you do use Wedding Programs, the appropriate time to distribute them is as guests enter the ceremony site.
The information to include:
On the front- A graphic, which can be correlated with your invitations and other stationary; your names; the date; and the time and location of the ceremony, if you like.
First page- The officiant's name, the order of events of the ceremony, the readings (names or verse numbers), and the names of the music selections.
Second page- Names of people involved in the ceremony: Officiant, parents of the Bride, parents of the Groom, grandparents, Maid of Honor, Best Man, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, Ushers, Flower Girl, Ringbearer, Lecters, and Musicians. Also your Wedding Coordinator if you have one.
On the last page- Thanks yous, a poem, an explanation of the significance of certain elements of the Wedding, a picture or graphic- one, none, or a combination of these elements.
